First Russian Economic Congress

The New Economic Association (NEA) and the Economics Sector at the RAS held on December 7-12, 2009, at the Lomonosov Moscow State University the First Russian Economic Congress (REC-2009).


The Congress featured over 2,000 economists engaged in academic centers, research foundations, universities and other higher education institutions as well as post-graduates and senior students. It was a major event in the country’s intellectual circles. The conference was the first forum in the history of Russia to bring together representatives of different research schools and economic thought streams. The participants held open discussions addressing the most burning theoretical and practical economic issues.


The Congress schedule included 18 round tables, 32 panels and 15 conferences on topical issues of economics as well as a special Conference on the Global Economic Crisis, Kondratieff Readings and a Young Russian Researchers’ Conference.
